The end grain is virtually self healing and the block itself is attractive so I leave it on display where I prepare the food. That said I've had it for a short period of time so we'll see how it holds up over time. Very pleased to date.

My husband asked for a Cherry End Grain butcher block for Christmas from Top Chop after reading reviews of a number of high end butcher block makers. However, once I looked at the website, I feel in love with the Walnut one.. (yes, I KNOW it was his present.. but I think he wasn't picking the most expensive one) But it is worth every penny as I feel like this will be the last cutting board/butcher block we will ever need to get. The colors are beautiful and it is beautifully made. We are oiling it as instructed to ensure that we get many many years of use from it.
